[CW] Maritime keys used

Not having to ever use my radio skills aboard a vesesel, I couldnt answer to
that, but do know that when sitting as a watchstander at US federal
facilities, we too had to prove our capabiility at 25 wpm, before allowed to
use a bug on live circuits. We had to be able to send 20 wpm with a
straight key, before qualification to sit traffic curcuits, as well. As an
Army Security Agency operator, we had to pass a 22 or 24 wpm (I forget
which) receive test in order to graduate from school (back in 1960). Our
assigned circuitry depended upon our code copying ability, and my mindless
reflexibility got me assigned to the fastest things we were copying at the
time (40-44 wpm). Of course, that was all done by typing on a MILL which is
a typwriter with no small characters. ALL CAPS.
