[CW] Thinking about tubes

I had (and still do) a set of Yaesu twins, FL/FRDX 400 line, that did just
fine with split operations. I would never recommend a tube type setup
anymore though. I spent more time "retuning" and putting in tubes, than I
care to think. Tube types also are not quite as steady on the freq as
transistor units, and are certainly likely to drift considerdably after
turn-on, and with PSK or other such digital operations, would probably not
give you good measure. I was overjoyed to get solid state tranceivers - and
even my first one that had all transistors except for the finals and drivers
was a great advance over the tube-only sets of the past. Having said
that - I used many KWM2 tranceivers for CW, and they worked just fine, once
heated up and in action. But, of course thats CW - not PSK
