Well, just remember that if they have your data they can do whatever
they want. You are not protected even if the law implies that you
are. In case you have not noticed there are more than just a few
folk who do not obey laws and get away with it. Privacy policies are
usually just declarations telling the user that whatever information
they offer is fair game for any and all use or misuse.
If you want to keep your information and data and intellectual
property private, don't post it. That does not mean do not post,
ever. It just means don't post stuff you want to remain private.
Think about this. Once you post stuff it becomes public. So don't
post info you want to remain personal and private.
I have a facebook account but dont use it that much. Mainly to keep
up with friends and family. Of course you can do that via e-mail too.
I will take Ed up on his offer as soon as I figure out how to do the
invites.
By the way, those on-line backup services, the ones that offer to
receive and store your entire hard drive data for backup. Make
certain that if you use these services that ALL your files are
properly encrypted so that you are the only one who can read the
files. (By properly I mean encryption that even the goberment cant
break.)
