[CW] Send CW from laptop?

Hardware:

I'd get something that runs off the USB port for "survivability" in case your laptop needs replacement down the line. (RS232 serial ports are going extinct.) Best solution in my mind is something based on the K1EL "WinKey" design. He sells some ready-built versions and also some kits I think. Other manufacturers (microHAM comes to mind) also license his technology and incorporate it into their products, so it has gained the market traction to become pretty much the "standard".

Software:

Many (most?) of the logging programs have some facility for sending Morse, and most support the WinKey on USB. Logger32 by K4CY is very good, it's free, and it supports WinKey. There are several others, but I'm not familiar with them.

Subject: [CW] Send CW from laptop?

I have a laptop computer that has a serial port and USB.

I would like to connect laptop to radio and use to send CW. I don't need it for receiving - I can do that well enough in my head - but at higher speeds my sending is not what is was 30 years ago.

  Any suggestions?

  Thanks.
