I agree with you KB, the Omni VI is very good.  Many say the Omni VI
plus is just the right addition of "digital" as it has noise reduction
which seems to be a good thing.

It seems that the new Omni VII has both crystal filters and digital filters.

I miss Collins - they put out top of the line stuff - even if the
price was also top shelf.  The 75A4 still competes with radios of
today as do the "big sets" used by the USN.  Gone also is National,
they made some great sets and a few junk ones - I've heard that the
NCL-2000 amplifier and the saga of the very very poor 8122 ceramic
tubes that RCA had a bad run of, nearly killed National.  But it was
only ten years later than they died anyway, as did all the USA radio
industry - Hammarlund, Johnson, Hallicrafters, Collins.  I think it
was the USA Armed Forces going sattelite that did it - but they should
have invested in that field.  Drake managed to survive a few more
years though.
