I've always used shielded also. My thought has been that anything
unshielded would be an antenna. I do my best to observe "best
practices" to keep RF out of the shack, but "an ounce of prevention..."
(Could be an old superstition... I'd like to see other comments as
well.)

Subject: [CW] Shielded Cable for Key Connections?
Hi All,
I have always used shielded cables to connect my straight keys and
paddles to the stereo key jack on my rigs. Is this necessary and/or
desired? I have wondered whether Navy or commercial equipment used
shielded cables for this type of connection.
Some unshielded cables that I have would be nice to use in a new set
up that I am considering. I could always just try it and see what
happens, but wanted to see what you all thought.
Thanks & 73,
Richard, AI4SH
