[CW] Re: SOS de MGY - Titanic - Real? or Fake?

I tried so hard to get all the reasons that I forgot one of the most
convincing ones -- a professional would have sent the signal of
distress as it was stated in the radio convention which just specified
a signal of three dots, three dashes, three dots, sent as one
continuous group.

No mention was made of "SOS" at all at the Berlin Convention or in the
Marconi circular letters.

Also the mention of "can't hear because of steam" would have been in
response to a signal sent by someone else. There were NO other
signals at all on the recording, nor were there any atmospherics
heard. The speed is too high and is contrary to what Harold Bride
(2nd R/O) testified to later.

I think we all - and I would especially - love to know this recording
as a genuine recording of events, but it just isn't - it would have
surfaced, Spud in his research would have heard some trace of that
story when he talked to old time operators from the area. Was one of
those operators there when Titanic signaled her distress, Spud? A
young man of 20 in 1912 could have been alive another 60 years or so.

Did I miss any of the objections, Gentlemen? Was there a compelling
reason that I overlooked that showed the recording to be genuine?

There were many emails both on lists and private - I knew I forgot
something. Sorry about that.
