You should try QRP, portable operation or homebrew. The fascination and
mystery is still there.

Commercial use of cw has been over since 1999....with the Russians, Koreans
and some SA folks still using it on a regular basis...The Indian Navy etc.
Israel also comes to mind (4XZ) China has some pt to pt ckts and the
clandestine services still use blind bcsts and some pt to pt use as well. It
still has some use and amateurs will no doubt continue as before. Time
marches on and technology doesnt give a damn about out hobby or vocation
whichever it was or is. There was a time when there was a wonder, a mystery
about a cw signal from afar...static...or echo. Thats not been a part of
amateur radio for many years...
