Allthis techno speak about how fast a given xmtr can
be keyed is missing the obvious...BURST xmissions
especially on VHF used speeds up to 350WPM and on
HF up to 250-300 and FSK cw was trudging along at
150 WPM on HF. BURST is still used....lsn on 7000khz
and if you're lucky you will hr a numbers station at
random times...there are other freqs as well at speeds
of approx 125WPM. I suspect they are using the modern
RACAL burst equipment...the older stuff is hand crank
just wind up and hit "send"

Theres a ham down in GA. than can tell you all about this
technique...and it was taught at VINT HILL FARMS, Va.
until they closed down in about 1995.

Gee, I wonder how the xmiter was keyed? Fixed freq
rcvrs were often used....they had wider filters than normal
because the bandwidth increased proportional to speed
and fixed site rcvrs had COR capability to a recording
device (COR...carrier operated relay) Wide band recorders.
