[CW] Licensing?

Let's see now...
Airlines with no testing for pilots.
Buses with no testing for drivers.
No auto or truck or motorcycle licensing.
No police exams.
No politician testing - wait, sorry, we already have that one.
No requirements for the FCC - we can start our own.
No testing - no failure.

I would hate to have something simply given to me in the way of a license.
How can a person prove proficiency of anything without testing?  Let's
eliminate all testing of any kind in our society.  That way no one will know
the real truth.

Years ago at a college I worked at, it was suggested that students come to
register for classes on a certain day, at a certain time, according to the
first letter of their last name.  One person became concerned and said, "but
what if they can't remember to make it".  Another commented, "then let them
consider other opportunities".  Maybe that is what is needed in ham radio.

Quality vs. quantity.  Tough choice :)
