My son's in-laws just left after a short visit. Son is Army captain just back from Baghdad. He and his wife had a delayed Baptism of their first child so the in-laws were visiting from NY. Best part of the visit was when I showed his father in law, Rog (Rogillio), my ham shack. He and his wife and our daughter-in-law emigrated from Cuba about 25 years ago. Wonderful people - but the best was the Rog had been a commercial / military CW operator who had been 40 WPM qualified. I sat him down in front of my 75A-4 and, after just a few minutes, he was copying morse code again, this time on 20 meters. He had fun trying to figure out my iambic key and electronic keyer but got the hang of it and was sending code practice.
Next thing is to get him licensed and have another fb CW operator on the bands.

"[S]o long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom,
those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active
and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number
of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping
men." --Voltaire
