[CW] W1AW MP3 Practice Files in IPOD

Sounds like the mp3 file format that the W1AW files are saved in don't play
on the IPOD. In all probability the W1AW files are saved at a very low bit
rate - which the IPOD doesn't understand.

Consult the documentation for IPOD for the supported bit rates.

I checked quickly and the iPOD Shuffle supports bit rates from 8-320k Kbps,
but the iPod Forth Generation 20 GB unit only supports 32 - 320k Kbps - so
the newer units don't support the "low fidelity" file specifications. The
older unit and newer units both support variable bit rate encoding as well
as constant bit rate encoding. (Variable allows smaller files).

I guess their thinking is - since the new units have 40 times the storage
capacity, why support low-fidelity small files.

Of course, they might not be hams!

Subject: [CW] W1AW MP3 Practice Files in IPOD

Fellow readers,

I have tried to get the W1AW code practice mp3 files
into my IPOD without success. It plays nicely in ITunes though.
Must admit that I'm new to this thing but
I was able to put music mp3 file into the IPOD but
not the code practice.

Anyone using the IPOD for listening to code?

tnx.
