I realize that the large tubes (or any) can be
rebuilt, I just somehow visualized a hatch available
to permit servicing in place (or I misread the
original post) which I assume is very possible and, if
so, I was totally unaware of.... The gargantuan size
of the antenna involved is in itself mind boggling!
BTW, is the huge miles long antenna used by the navy
for submarine communications located in Wisconsin or
Michigan? Perhaps its neither or out of
service??------------I agree with David (N1EA) re:
bandwidth and CW speed as when I got my feet wet in
the theoretical side of things years ago this is what
I was taught and it did, and does, make sense to me.
The antenna arc over on exceeding a certain CW speed
is fascinating, illustrates how sharp the tuning is on
these things....!!
