What REALLY irks me is that during the ARMED FORCES DAY broadcasts and
operations, "They" don't activate WAR, NSS, and other stations on CW.  There
is NO CW period.

This is a SLAP in the FACE to all our VETS who lugged CW equipment in the
field, worked at a base, on aircraft, or ships, or communications station.
Many of these men gave their lives in combat, others are alive, but we don't
even consider their "mode" worthy of inclusion.

That is ABSOLUTELY disgusting and shameful and should be corrected
IMMEDIATELY.

Been monitoring this discussion and though I'd drop
my 2 cents worth .... Hi. For years I thought this
hide one's head and remove CW from the MARS operation
was "REALLY REALLY" short sided. Heck they even made us
take the CW identifiers off the VHF MARS repeaters.
And mind ya this is coming from a person .... "ME" ....
that has no talent for CW .... Hi. But ya know the goal
for this program is to get the message through. I don't
care if ya have to use a carrier pigeon to do it.
I use to get on my soapbox and preach that but no one
listened. Guess it will take a real major disaster to
help get those up at the tops head out of the sand or
maybe wherever else it is .... Hehehe.
Buds last paragraph says it all and I'll paste is hear
again just in case anyone didn't get it the first time:

"In short, anyone concerned with real communications
under the very worst of conditions is a fool to
dismiss any one of the modes to get the job done.
That must include CW as well, like it or not."

Not what our administration wants to hear
but it's how I look at the end results.
What really concerns me is that there is rumbling
that they'd like to see voice go. While I say that
"Can't Be" I'm not so sure about anything anymore.
My old dead daddy built a bomb shelter out in the
boonies back in the fifties and I always thought he
was a bit off. Hmmmm .... now I'm not so sure.
Maybe it's time to go dust it off and stock it up.
If some people have their way we'll be neutered
here in a few years and all this crap out there
will be knocking on our front door. Then it's OOP's.
Then again I'm just opinionated, cranky and crazy.
