>>Now what is the difference in this "no", and "I dont do cw"?
Seems perfectly straight forward to me.<<
That one IS perfectly straightforward, because there is a big difference
between the two. One aks "what do you send with?" and the I
don't do code answer is inappropriate, IF the intention is to find out what
people use. The other poll asks "Do you..." so "no" is a perfectly relevant
answer.
>>Again, I think too many are trying to read too much into the responses<<
Not me [g]. I really am interested in how many people use straight keys as
compared to paddles, bugs, etc., but since half the respondents don't do code I
had to recalcalculate the results for them to mean anything to me.
>>Reminds me of some of the questions on inspections I used to do for a
company, while going to college. "Is the public restroom clean?" "Yes"
"No" "No public restroom" Pretty straight forward to me.<<
That IS a different kind of "survey" in that it is an inspection result, not a
survey. And while it works ok as is, it might have been better (easier to
manage results) if the question were phrased as "If there is a public
restroom, is it clean?"
Bottom line, though, is there is no point to the ARRL surveys apart from
"entertainment value." When the ARRL actually does want to poll its members,
it uses an external polling company.
