i could be mistaken, but my impression is that qrp
is the -principal- source of new cw operators these
days.

cw makes alot of sense for amateurs who want to try
their hand at building their own gear, which is a
characteristic of many qrp'ers. also makes sense for
anyone running low power, for reasons all of you
know well.

one of my favorite aspects of amateur radio is
combining my interests in qrp+cw and backpacking.
i've started putting together a small web page
about it at:

http://www.geocities.com/scottamcmullen/wildernessQrp.htm

there is much, much more information on this type
of operation at this site:

http://arsqrp.com

the events the arsqrp'ers sponsor are 100% cw.

i apologize if this is "old hat" to everyone, but
wanted to share it with the group in case anyone
hadn't seen it.
