I have been off the air for a while and am now geting back on with a
IC706MIIG.  Not my nice previous Collins stuff but a lot better than
drums.
I am setting up my Bug (never got rid of that) and my Dits suck.  I have
spent the last part of a hour trying to make them sound good but to no
avail.  It's hard to describe, the dahs sound nice and clear but no
matter
how I adjust the bug (I am no amateur at bug adjustment) they sound
muddy,
not sharp and clear, not good I don't know how else to describe it.  I
would
like to set up a 40M qso and let someone else hear them maybe I am just
dreaming.

Larry,

IC rigs are infamous for severely truncating cw dots, especially in QSK
mode. Try the bug with a code practice oscillator.
