[CW] QRM or QRN

Hi,
I've been back on the air for a couple of months now. Most of the time I have the headphones on so
my wife won't be disturbed.
Sometimes I hear a penetrating sound (CHEERP)drill through my ears. It sounds as if someone has
held the key down and spund the tuning dial right over the frequency you are on. The sound is very
common but can be very irritating especially with the phones on and working QSB.
Do you know what that noise is generated from? Is it someone spinning the tuning dial or is it a
peculiar spurious signal?
Please advise.
