ARRL Member : Not after last week, YES prior to that

Division: Roanoke

Polled by Division: No...

Comments: I too believe that Roanoke division "management" is pro-dumbing
down (quantity over quality), and any suggestion that there was significant
polling in the Roanoke division is a lie.

The division website (not updated in months) has the following quote from
September:

"The big question is, will the FCC eliminate the Element 1, code test.?
That my fellow amateurs depends on what the majority of the Amateur Radio
operators want. If a large majority of comments favor the elimination of
the code test, it will happen."

When I challenged this statement with Mr Haynie, pointing out that the two
large sample polls taken by the ARRL in recent years (not the idiotic ballot
stuffing excercise recently on the website) indicated that the majority of
hams wanted code maintained, Mr Haynie crawled back in his shell and stopped
the conversation.

After many years, I demanded a refund of my dues from the ARRL and resigned
2 weeks ago, after their refusal to represent the majority of the ham
population.

It's clear that their desire to keep their monarchy intact (and their jobs)
takes priority over representing the ham community.
