Here is one along the same line.
I had a friend Charles in Toronto who during the Second World War was
stationed as a Wireless Monitor Operator.
He and other monitored the Japanese transmissions and sent their copy
to Washington for decrypting.
He said a standard shift for the experienced operator was to come in,
open up a paperback novel place it on the right hand of the
typewriter and then place his fingers on the keyboard.
He said the code went from the ear directly to the keyboard and he
read his novel.
I have spoken to some women here in Edmonton who were also employed
doing similar work and they related similar experiences.
It would be interesting to hear of similar people who worked at
Bletchley Park in England there were about 10,000 monitors employed
in their activities surely more information can be gained about their
abilities.
Food for thought
