One bad ham spoils the broth. Who would you have correct their behavior? If
we had no rules, then there would be pandemonium. Put it this way, would you
drive on the roads, if there were NO speed limit, no rule on which side of
the road you drive on? No stop signs, or traffic lights. From the beginning
even driving had rules of the road (brought over from horse drawn wagon days) .
As to boats. Hmmm here in the state of Virginia, one has to register the
boat, drive within certain speed limits, insure they are not drinking etc.
Those are certainly sensible state mandated regulations. Even my canoe has a
registration number, and I have to buy a permit to put it into certain state and
county waters.
Thank God we are NOT being ruled by Libertarians, if their agenda is against
common sense laws such as these.
As to ham radio: The most common sense rule out there is the separation of
audio and digital signals. If you were ever to live in a country where that
wasn't the case, you would understand. Its no fun trying to work DX on a FREQ
where some dummy down the street is yakking on voice with his/her friends across
town, just a CCC away from the CW signals you are trying to copy. If you
think trying to copy through a SWBC station is difficult, just give that a try.
