Obviously any self-respecting CW op would resent in any way being called
bent." This also applies to the key being used. I often wonder how the term
paddles" got by.

Subject: [CW] Key name origin?
Does anyone know how or when manual keys came to be called "straight"
keys, and why is that that most of them are actually bent?
None of the modern Webster's definitions of "straight" as an adjective
seem to fit with key. Could it be just one more English word that has
completely changed meaning over time?
