Dear Jim,

Was that an error, or can you really send that fast on a hand key? If so
that is amazing.

Can I have a recording? I'm trying to "prove" to a group of USA Radio
Officers that the Brits did send 25 wpm on the hand key - and the Germans
could and did send 28 wpm on a straight key.

This was the speed of the sending portion of the First-Class Telegraph
Operator's Certificate.
We had to send 25 wpm English and 20 wpm code groups - but in USA we were
allowed to use a semi-automatic key (not a keyer!) - so since I can't send
above 23 wpm on a straight key, that's what I did.
