Here's a copy of my E-Mail to ARRL representatives:

Dennis, Les and Dr. Jim,

Just a note to let you know I am in favor of retaining the Morse code test
requirement in our
Amateur Testing. I have served as a volunteer examiner for ARRL for many
years, and the code
test is one of our finest tools for examination of new hams. Why? Because
the applicant actually
must learn the code to pass the test. The written theory tests are
generally memorized and the
applicant needs no practical knowledge of what he is answering to achieve a
passing score..

I have answered surveys on this question several times in the past for ARRL
and my position has been
the same.

I expect many of us in Roanoke division would be interested to know the
consensus of opinion
on this issue in our ARRL division.

I am also in favor of retaining portions of our sub-bands in which CW is the
only mode allowed.
CW and SSB do not co-exist very well together. Some re-alignment of the CW
sub-band allocations
is certainly in order, but please do not destroy our CW allocations
altogether.

Best wishes to you!
