Mr. Haynie,=20

Thank You for your response. This is of the utmost importance =
considering the past examples of the decisions which the League has =
taken which I will note later in this email. For your information once =
again, I emailed my Roanoke Director, Dennis Bodson, and asked for HIS =
PERSONAL VIEWS on the cw issue. He stated the Leagues position was to =
retain the CW on the licensed exams. Emailed Mr. Bodson again asking for =
his Personal Stance on the issue because ELECTIONS ARE COMING UP! . NO =
REPLY! I sent 3 more emails over a course of 3 weeks and have received =
nothing. This is MY elected representative?=20

Please note the following:

1997 Annual Meeting of the ARRL Board of Directors

Pursuant to due notice, the Board of Directors of the American Radio =
Relay League, Inc., met in annual session at the Marriott Hotel, in =
Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Friday, January 17, and Saturday, January =
18, 1997. The meeting was called to order at 8:34 AM MST, January 17, =
with President Rodney J. Stafford, KB6ZV, in the Chair and the following =
Directors present:=20

49. The Board next moved to consider Directors' motions. Mr. Mendelsohn =
assumed the Chair at 1:27 PM. Mr. Race yielded the floor to Mr. Stafford =
for the purpose of allowing the President to offer a motion. On motion =
of Mr. Stafford, seconded by Mr. Race, it was unanimously voted that the =
following resolution is ADOPTED:=20

WHEREAS, WRC-99 will discuss, among other things, whether testing the =
Morse code ability of certain amateur licensees should be retained as an =
international treaty obligation; and=20

WHEREAS, input from the membership of ARRL, through the recent READEX =
survey, shows that the majority of members responding favor the =
retention of Morse Code for HF operating privileges;=20

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that with regard to possible =
modification of Article S25 of the international Radio Regulations, the =
report of the ARRL WRC-99 Planning Committee is accepted and the =
recommendations are adopted as ARRL policy; and=20

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the ARRL not support changing the existing =
treaty requirement for the demonstrated ability to send and receive =
Morse code.

Mr.Haynie, please disregard the the larger type but when i copied and =
pasted from the ARRL website this is what it gave me. I must commend You =
and Your Staff on the wonderful job which is being done with the BPL =
issue. First Class. But I must say you and the ARRL is defeating us =
from the inside in regards with the CW issue. We the membership who =
have been supporting the League TO NO AVAIL.

I am only one person but I called the ARRL today and canceled my =
membership.=20

Sincerely,

n3drk-john shea

  No hurry. We have plenty to time to respond. Besides there are a =
number of petitions besides the one submitted by the NCVEC. None have =
been assigned a RM number.

  Thanks for the note.

  President, ARRL=20
