[CW] This is Interesting To Say the Least!

I sent another email to the Great Lakes Division Director about some of the
current happenings and I got an "interesting" answer from him....

"As I believe you expect, there is a lot of discussion on the Board
reflector around licensing -- including the several petitions submitted
to do away with the code requirement and to develop a new, entry-level
license class."

Note the term "several petitions"... Now as far as I know, the only one out
there is the NCVEC petition - I haven't heard of any others. Also, the info
about a "new, entry-level license class" was news to me. Now, I have
checked QRZ.com and eham.net and the ONLY reference to ANY petition is the
original NCVEC one. Is there ANY way to find info on petitions filed with
the FCC on their website? I for one would like to know what other - if any
- petitions have been filed. And if there has been, why hasn't the info
been put out. AFAIK we are not talking about "classified information" here,
but documents filed with the FCC.

I also find it very disturbing that as I write this, there is STILL nothing
on the ARRL website about even the original NCVEC petition. I did mention
that to the GL Division Director, but he did not comment on that to me in
his reply email. I suppose my next step is to email Newington and ask the
question myself!
