There is a vast difference between the environment a satellite is exposed
to, and your den, for one you have a layer of ozone miles thick, multiple
ionized layers in the ionosphere to protect you radio from a solar flare, a
satellite is out in naked space, exposed to the full effect of a flare, and
the magnetic sphere and the Van Allen belts.
There have been times were satellites were damaged by solar events, and you
have zero effects on you or your radio.
Get real!
