[CW] Future of cw

Larry,
There have been numerous periods in my memory that communications have been
disrupted by solar flares.
During these periods, the communications facilities available to me failed.
I had high speed satellite communications, radiotelephone, SITOR (linked
teletype), secure and unsecure radioteletype.
The only means of communications - often for hours was CW.
Sometimes the HF specrtum went completely dead except for within 200 miles.
At these times, we used MF for communciations (500 kHz) band where usually
comms were possible for 800 miles or so.
CW is fun, but there is more to it.
And the "more to it" is it's reason of being.

Any solar flare big enough to destroy all
satellites and all communications would take out my cw rig also.Even if by
some miracle my cw rig survived who would I
contact with it? The vast majority of humans don't know cw , period. This
idea of cw saving the world is nonsense.
Cw is just a fun mode used by some hams .
