The scope should be fine.
I would suggest you subscribe to the QRP-L mailing list
http://qrp.lehigh.edu/lists/qrp-l/ where you will find loads of people who
do that sort of thing, and a great source for ideas and help. The archives
are available online, but searching them is a bit clumsy.
