MixW through a sound card works reasonably well. MixW has the added
advantage of working with about every other digital mode as well.

The OK3OIL PIC based CW reader from the 8/99 (or so) QST works reasonably
well, too. His design uses a 567 for the decode. I built basically the
same thing with a 2211 (because I didn't have a 567 laying around) and it
works pretty good, too. I think the 2211 actually works a little better.
N8ERO has been experimenting with 2 567's to improve the noise immunity, but
he has nothing posted on the web. He has a lot of thoughts about it, tho,
so you might email him.

I'm guessing that the PLL with PC code isn't going to work very well, at
least not under Windoze. If you were to dedicate a PC running only the bare
code, or a real time operating system, then maybe. The PIC with a PLL only
works (IMO) because it's dedicated. The sound card can do a lot of the
work, and be a lot smarter about it than a PLL, so I can't imagine that the
PLL would work better. The PC running a GUI like Windoze has the added
disadvantage that there are other things going on, so the PC's timing can be
thrown off. Putting a dumber interface in front of challenged code isn't
going to make it any better, IMO.

But I have yet to find one that works as well as the one between your ears.
