The classic approach to setting the dot/space ratio is to key a small
current through a meter and set the dot weighting so that the current is
50% of what it is with the key contacts closed. Sometimes a simple ohmeter
will suffice to get you in the ballpark, but you have to watch out for
non-linear scales and readings when searching for the 50% point.
