I wonder if anyone has tried to copy code on a typewriter or computer using
the DVORAK keyboard.

I taught myself to type while in high school, using a mechanical typewriter
with the conventional " QWERTY" keyboard. I learnt many bad habits and
errors, and always had difficulty typing, just barely more than hunting and
pecking. I first heard of the Dvorak keyboard in the 60's, but gave it
little thought until computers came along. Windows computers and the newer
Macs all have it pre-installed as an option. I found a tutorial on the web,
downloaded it, and practised for about 20 minutes a day for 3 weeks until I
mastered the basic keyboard. It took me a couple of months to regain my
original typing speed, but now I type much faster and more accurately than I
ever could before, and for the first time in my life, touch type without
looking at the keyboard (I have no choice - the letters on the keys don't
correspond with the actual keystrokes). I would urge anyone to try it. I
can't touch type QWERTY any more, and to me it is a good riddance.
