Don,
Thanks a million for the jpegs. First of all, congrats on the nice
keys! My base is totally different, totally. It is oval, measuring
approx 5.75 x 3.25 inches, is cast metal, and is chrome...the sideswiper
key is also chrome. The oval base is approximately 1/2 inches high
before it tapers off and up. At the very top of the taper, the oval is
the exact size as the base of the Bunnell. The distance from where the
taper begins and where the key is mounted is approximately 1 inch. The
height from desk top to the point where the Bunnell base is mounted on
the oval is also approximately 1 inch...the combined weight of the key
and base must be at least a couple of pounds. The lever (paddle end) is
tapered downwards (very smoothly), as is the locking lever, both to make
it comfortable for the user...the center of the round paddle/finger
piece to the desk top is 1.5 inches.

I wish I had a camera so you could see it because I'm sure my
description is very difficult to imagine...my apologies. If I can
clarify any of the above, please let me know.

As for the age of these keys, I would not have a clue....keep in mind, I
am basically a smalltime collector that enjoys using his keys on the air
and just admiring the workmanship of a bygone age.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply....look forward to meeting you
someday...
