 Well, it might not REQUIRE it, but logic would seem to dictate
 that a single lever can "be in only one position at a time," while a
 dual paddle can be be in several. And since only one position at a time
 is all that is necessary for 'conventional' sending, that type of
paddle
 would be the desired, natural choice.

 A wise, old scientist friend told me many years ago a motto which I
 adopted for my own: "Simplicity Is Ingenuity."
