Hello there: Andrew Here VE1EX, am a new member to this reflector. I have
already posted a couple of listings.    I am 45 and have had a license [Ham}
since 1987. At first I operated a mix of ssb and cw. My cw at that time
was not good enough to have a conversational qso. As my experience
increased, i tended to operate more and more cw. I got to the point in 1996
that I had to think real hard as to where I last saw the microphone. These
days I work as a forest ranger in a fire tower and spend the quiet times at
work on the lower end of 15m [21,003 kHz}. I love cw and would have liked
to work as a professional cw op, but I guess those days are long gone. I
use a straight key, and have a set of viking squeeze type paddles that i
have to weight down with a 5lb hammer so it does not slide around. I have
an com 706 and have learned how to key the internal keyer using the up down
buttons on the microphone, I can manage about 25 wpm using that method, any
more than that and qsd increases. Have never had the chance to use a single
lever pddle, not sure of anyone in this area who has one. There is a
hamfest at Greenwood NS this fall, will have to see if I can find one there.
Hope all of you are having a great summer and if you feel so inclined give
me a call on 15m from 1300z until about 2200 z
