The operative words SHOULD have been: "...IF you" *** DON'T *** "have...
[some active email virus checker]..." . I understand NOW about this
thing's mechanism of random email address selection, and I apologize for
my failure to read the Norton description. Despicable behavior on the
virus author's part, isn't it.

Consider my directive amended to read: I will, AFTER consultation with
the sending party, remove anyone who causes virus distribution AND
refuses to use active-email-virus-intercept software. Even as stated
previously, I WOULD have asked the person about it before doing
anything, anyway.

As for "...it sometimes taking a week or more..." for software updates,
NOT IN MY EXPERIENCE WITH NORTON. I imagine my day is coming, but so far
it has NEVER failed to intercept a virus. I HAVE made two stupid
mistakes in the past: 1) [and this is embarrassing] I insisted on
opening a quarantined, virus-containing attachment, because I wanted to
see if Norton would still stop it [it didn't-scratch one WIN 2000 PRO OS
kernel]; and 2) I managed to get out of date on my virus definitions
because my update subscription had elapsed. THAT time I didn't open the
attachment, but there were still resulting serious problems of some
sort.

My email was intended to put on notice those who seem-for whatever
reason-to be avoiding the use of active virus-intercept software, that I
won't stand for it on 'my' reflectors... and to encourage other
'managers' to do the same. It ISN'T FAIR to everyone else.
