Statement as of 2:47 PM PDT on May 24, 2011
...Wind Advisory in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Wednesday...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Wind Advisory...
which is in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Wednesday. The high
wind watch is no longer in effect.
* Timing: gusty southwest winds are expected late Wednesday
morning into Wednesday evening. The winds will shift to the west
in the evening. The strongest winds will occur during the
afternoon.
* Winds: southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph. Local gusts
to 70 mph are possible in wind prone areas along the Sierra front.
* Impacts: strong...gusty winds will produce strong Crosswinds
along Interstate 80 and highways 50...95 and 395. Areas of
blowing dust will occur near the Carson and Humboldt sinks in
Pershing and Churchill counties.

Motorists...especially in high profile vehicles...should use
caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds. Check
