High Wind Watch
Statement as of 4:41 AM PDT on March 14, 2009

...High wind watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a high wind
watch...which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday
afternoon.

* Winds will increase during the day Sunday...then remain strong
   from late Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

* Winds: southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph on
   Sunday...increasing to 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph
   possible Sunday night and Monday. Higher gusts may occur in wind
   prone areas such as Washoe Valley.

* Impacts: travel will be difficult at times on area highways...
   especially north-south roadways such as Highway 395...due to the
   strong gusty winds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high wind watch means there is potential for strong damaging
winds to affect the area. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts
at weather.Gov/Reno.
