Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 11:32 AM PST on March 03, 2009

...Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 am PST
Wednesday...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and strong winds remains in
effect until 10 am PST Wednesday.

* Rain and snow will continue this afternoon with snow increasing tonight.
   Most snow accumulation through 4 PM will occur above 5000 feet.
   Snow will become heavy at times down to valley floors tonight
   into Wednesday morning.

* Total snow accumulations: by Wednesday morning...3 to 5
   inches...with 6 to 10 inches above 5000 feet. The heaviest snow
   is expected during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

* Winds: southwest winds 10 to 20 mph gusting to 40 mph.

* Snow levels: 4500 to 4800 feet lowering to valley floors
   late this afternoon through tonight.

* Impacts: through 4 PM this afternoon snow will mainly affect
   elevations above 5000 feet including Highway 395 north of
   Reno...Washoe Valley...Holbrook Junction and Geiger grade with
   mainly travel difficulties due to slick roads and gusty winds.
   Periods of heavy snow are expected tonight into Wednesday morning
   with snow covered roads and blowing snow impacting both the
   evening commute today and the morning commute on Wednesday.
