High Wind WARNING
Statement as of 4:09 AM PST on March 01, 2009
...High Wind WARNING in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 am
PST Monday...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a High Wind
WARNING...which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 am
PST Monday. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.
* Gusty south to southwest winds will develop late this morning
then increase during the afternoon and continue into Monday
morning. A brief weakening of the wind is likely early Monday
morning before increasing again around sunrise.
* Winds: southwest winds increasing to 25 to 40 mph with gusts up
to 60 mph this evening and continuing through late Monday
morning. Gusts over 75 mph possible in wind prone areas.
* Impacts:travel will be difficult late this afternoon into Monday
morning...especially on north-south roadways such as Highway
395.
Motorists...especially in high profile vehicles...should use
caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds.
Damage to trees...power lines and property is likely with winds
of this magnitude. Driving will become hazardous for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution and remain alert for sudden
