High Wind Advisory
309 PM PDT sun Apr 13 2008

...High Wind WARNING in effect from 11 am to 7 PM PDT Monday...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a High Wind
Warning...which is in effect from 11 am to 7 PM PDT Monday. The
high wind watch is no longer in effect.

Southwest winds are expected to increase to 25 to 35 mph Monday
morning and continue through the afternoon and early evening.
Gusts of 60 mph or higher can be expected by the
afternoon...especially in the higher elevations and in wind prone
areas of western Nevada. Over the ridges...gusts up to 100 mph
are expected.

These winds will also cause rough chop on Lake Tahoe. Small boats
will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until
conditions improve.

Damage to trees...power lines and property is likely with winds
of this magnitude. Unsecured outdoor items that could be moved
or blown over by strong winds should be brought indoors before the
winds increase on Monday. Travel will become difficult especially
on Highway 395 and Interstate 80 due to strong cross winds and
possible local areas of blowing dust.

Check our website at weather.Gov/Reno or listen to NOAA Weather
Radio for updates on this situation.
