Special Weather Statement
400 PM PST Sat Dec 1 2007
...Strong winds possible across western Nevada and the central
Sierra Sunday and Monday...
A powerful storm will move into the Pacific northwest on Sunday and
linger into Monday. This storm will bring the potential for
strong and gusty winds to the Tahoe basin and the Sierra front
starting Sunday afternoon. Winds are expected to increase over the
Sierra foothills Sunday morning and become more widespread over
other areas late Sunday afternoon. The wind may decrease Sunday
night however the windiest conditions are expected on Monday. It is
still uncertain how widespread the strong winds will be...but the
potential is there for wind gusts of 60 mph or more in many
locations...especially north of Highway 50.
If you have travel plans on Sunday and Monday in western Nevada and
the central Sierra be prepared for strong and gusty winds. Keep
abreast of the situation by checking our web site at
www.Weather.Gov/Reno.
Expires:021200 gmt
