Fellow hams,

Some recent upgrades have been made to the W7DI repeater system. This is a
linked repeater system and consists of a VHF (147.270+ PL 123) and a UHF
(441.250+ PL 123) located on McClellan Peak just north of Carson City.
Also, a UHF (443.750+) located atop the Sheriff's building in Minden.

The normal operating mode will be to have all three repeaters linked
together. You can talk on any one of them and be heard on all. Choose the
one that works best for you.

These are open repeaters and all licensed amateurs are welcome to use them,
however, there primary purpose is to be available for emergency
communications. All repeaters are located at secure sites with emergency
generator power. At the discretion of the Douglas County EC, the repeaters
can be unlinked and operated independently if needed.

There are a couple of features on the McClellan repeaters that may be of
interest to hams. By keying your radio and entering DTMF codes, you can
access the following.

101 Repeater will playback the current date and time.
103 Playback test. Enter 103, unkey your radio, the repeater will reply
with "Ready". You can then rekey your radio and make a test statement.
Unkey again and the repeater will play back your message. This is a great
way to hear what your radio sounds like to others. Note that when the
repeater says "ready", you must rekey and begin within 4 seconds.

Note that this does not work on the Minden repeater.

I will welcome any comments on these repeaters and hope they will continue
to be of use to the community.

Dale, kv7s
