Dear Friends,
My visit to Dr. Minor last Friday was very encouraging. The radiologist's
report for the CT scan done on March 7th showed a 20% shrinkage in all my
tumors, both lungs and liver! So, we're starting the next round of Sutent
tomorrow (Monday 3/20). The next CT scan will be in about 10 weeks.
I have had more severe side effects during the second cycle of the drug,
including large blisters/sores on my right hand and pretty bad fatigue.
These have cleared up during my two weeks off the drug - just in time to
start the drug again.
There is also more fluid build-up in my abdomen. No one knows where this is
coming from. I also have some pretty bad edema, which could be caused by the
Sutent or by the blood pressure medication I'm on. I've been given a
diuretic to try to lose some fluid (I put on 10 pounds in just a week!).
My red blood cell count is still low, but with the EPO shots is hanging just
above the level where I'd be getting another transfusion.
I still have some good days and some bad days, but it sure is nice to have
some good news for change.
Now, if the warm weather would just get here, I could go out and get some
exercise :)
Cheers,
Bob
