944 PM PST Thu Jan 26 2006
...High wind watch in effect from late Friday night through
Saturday afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a high wind
watch...which is in effect from late Friday night through
Saturday afternoon.
A fast moving Pacific storm will move across northwest Nevada and
the Surprise Valley of California Saturday. Southwest winds of
25 to 40 mph are possible beginning Saturday morning. Wind gusts
up to 60 mph are possible in valley locations...with gusts to 80
mph possible in foothill locations and wind prone areas. The winds
will continue through Saturday afternoon and diminish Saturday
evening.
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of more than 40 mph...or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.
