Special Weather Statement
330 am PST Tue Feb 14 2006

...Gusty winds this afternoon and tonight with much colder
temperatures Wednesday...

A cold front will drop south out of Canada and pass through western
Nevada and the eastern Sierra tonight and Wednesday. The front will
move into northwest Nevada and northeast California this evening and
will reach Mono and Mineral counties Wednesday morning.

South winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph with gusts near 45 mph
ahead of the cold front. Over the Sierra ridges...gusts could reach
80 mph. Travel may be difficult at times for high profile vehicles.

Cold Arctic air will move into the region behind the front. High
temperatures on Wednesday will be 20 to 25 degrees colder than
todays high temperatures. Overnight lows in the teens and single
digits are expected during this period in western Nevada valleys.
Low temperatures in some Sierra valleys could drop below zero.

The cold air is expected to remain in place through the coming
weekend...along with periods of snow over much of northern Nevada
and the Sierra.
