For those of you registered to vote in the Republican primary and not having yet done so, and are undecided on your vote for Nevada governor, you might be interested in the following.

During last nights debate, the question was asked about what the candidates would do to enhance Nevada's response to a terrorist attack or disaster.

Bob Beers, a licensed ham, stated he would do the "usual" with OEM.  He further emphasized that he would have had ham radio operators in the equation prior to the incident and trained to actively participate with OEM.

To the best of my knowledge, no candidate for major office in Nevada has ever spoken so positively about the potential role of amateur radio operators during emergency conditions.  His statement was not wishy-washy, but a very strong endorsement for utilization of ham radio operators.
