Hi All,
Bob phoned me this afternoon with a new report. I know that a number of you
were very concerned that Bob looked so tired on his last visit, and this
report will help ease your concern.
Bob said that his Coumadin level had gotten extremely high for no apparent
reason, and he probably had lost some red cells from hidden bleeding. His red
cell count was quite low (hematocrit of 22, which is about half the normal
level). His doctors had given him a medication that helps stimulate red
cells,
and had prescribed iron pills, but he tired very quickly when he was here.
On return to Santa Clara he entered the Stanford Hospital, where they
transfused him with two units of blood. After receiving them, he feels
much better,
and was able to take a long walk instead of being barely able to stand. Over
a few days they expect to transfuse him with another two units of blood, which
should get him to or pretty close to the normal levels.
Bob wants you to know that he feels much better, now.
73,
Will Lewis, KD7NIR
