In my opinion, you first need to determine if the bumper is strong
enough to support anything beyond a bumper sticker.

Every vehicle I have ever owned / still own, has that capability.
 Currently, Chevy Suburban, what else?

I knew of a guy in 1958 who bought a brand new 4 passemger
Thunderbird. Had a piece of 6" steel channeling welded to the frame
and came out from underneath the left rear corner of the car. To
that he mounted a large piece of polystyrene block as an insulator.

As the base of his center loaded whip he mounted a chrome plated
diesel truck drive shaft. Above that, was the hand wound loading
coil. The top was two pieces of army tank whip screwed together
 with a 6" corona ring

This antenna was fed by a 2 KW 75 meter AM transmitter mounted in
 the trunk.

The Push To Talk button on the mic keyed the field winding of a B29
(airplane) 28 VDC 300 amp generator V-belted to the crank-shaft of
the engine. Pressing that PTT button temporarily stalled the
generator and caused burnt rubber on the the V-belts.

The several dynamotors were mounted under the seats of the car ...
and when the installation was complete, he could still get 4 people
 in the car.

Replacing tires were beacause of the carbon track burnt across
them. He didn't dare park under a tree because of the corona off
 the top of the antenna.

  Hope this helps ... :)
