A KPC 3 is a VHF packet-only TNC.  The AEA PK-232 is not just a TNC, but is 
a multi-mode data controller.

While it does support VHF packet like the KPC 3, the PK-232 also supports 
AMTOR, PACTOR, RTTY and more.

It is a reliable work horse data controller that has been around for a long 
time.  It can even be upgraded by Timewave (the new owner of AEA) to full 
DSP operation.
